## Overview
A **Multiple choice** question lets learners pick a single answer from a list of options. It's a fast way to assess a lot of learners at once and, unlike essay or short-answer questions, it removes the subjectivity from marking — so scoring stays fair and consistent. Multiple choice is the default question type when you add a new question, and it's one of the types you can pick when building a Form or quiz, alongside Checkboxes, Open text answer, File upload, Rating, Date and Time.

## Add a Multiple choice question
1. Open the Form you want to edit — you'll land in the question builder in edit mode.
2. Click **Add question** at the bottom of the builder. New questions start as a **Multiple choice** question, so there's nothing more to select. (If the question is set to another type, open the question type dropdown to the right of the question title and choose **Multiple choice**.)

3. Type your question in the question field. Use the **Show Toolbar** checkbox if you want the rich-text editor tools.
4. Enter your answer options. Click **Add Option** to add more, drag an option by its handle to reorder it, and use the ✕ to remove one.
5. (Optional) For a graded Form, tick the box under the **Answer** column beside the option that is the correct answer.
6. Use the **Required** toggle if learners must answer this question. Your changes save automatically as you work.

## Add a Multiple choice question from a template
If you want a ready-made **Yes or No** or **True or False** question, add it from a template instead of building it by hand.

1. In the question builder, click **Add question from template**.

2. In the **Select a question template** dropdown, choose the template you want — for example **Multiple choice - True or False** or **Multiple choice - Yes or No** — then click **Add question**.

3. Edit the question text as needed. Use the **Show Toolbar** checkbox to make use of the rich-text editor toolbar.

> **Good to know:** A Multiple choice question accepts a single answer. If learners need to select more than one option, use a **Checkboxes** question instead.

## Things to keep in mind
* Multiple choice questions accept only one selected answer. For "select all that apply" style questions, use a **Checkboxes** question.
* Marking a correct answer is optional and only matters for a graded Form. If you don't tick a correct option, the question still records the learner's choice but isn't scored.
* Changes to a Form save automatically as you work — there's no separate save button.

## FAQs
**What's the difference between a Multiple choice question and a Checkbox question?**
A Multiple choice question lets learners select only one answer; a Checkbox question lets them select more than one.

**How do I add more answer options?**
Click **Add Option** beneath the existing options. You can reorder options by dragging their handle and remove one with the ✕.

**Can a Multiple choice question be graded?**
Yes. Tick the correct option under the **Answer** column and set a pass score on the Form. See *How to Build a Quiz and Set the Correct Answers* for the full grading setup.

## Who can do this
**Owners**, **Admins**, **Managers**, **Content Managers** and **Instructors** can add and edit Form questions. **People Managers**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users have read-only access and cannot change a Form's questions.
