## Overview
A **Rating** question lets learners respond on a visual scale — for example rating something from 1 to 5 stars. It's a great fit for feedback and surveys, and is one of the question types you can pick when building a Form or quiz.

## Add a Rating question
1. Open the Form you want to edit — you'll land in the question builder in edit mode.
2. Click **Add question** at the bottom of the builder to add a new question.
3. With the new question selected, open the question type dropdown to the right of the question title and choose **Rating**.
4. Set the maximum rating using the number selector (any value from 1 to 10; the default is 5).
5. Choose the rating icon — a star, a heart or a thumbs-up.
6. Type your question in the question field, and use the **Required** toggle if learners must answer. Your changes save automatically.

> **Good to know:** The learner's answer is recorded as a number from 1 up to the maximum you set.

## Things to keep in mind
* You can set the scale to anything from 1 to 10 — the default is 5.
* The rating icon can be a star, a heart or a thumbs-up; it's purely visual and doesn't change the recorded value.
* Rating questions collect feedback and don't count towards a Form's pass score, so there's no "correct" answer to set.

## FAQs
**What scale can I use?**
Any whole number from 1 to 10. The default maximum is 5.

**Which icons are available?**
A star, a heart or a thumbs-up.

**Is a Rating question graded?**
No. Rating questions are for gathering feedback and don't contribute to a Form's pass score.

## Who can do this
**Owners**, **Admins**, **Managers**, **Content Managers** and **Instructors** can add and edit Form questions. **People Managers**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users have read-only access and cannot change a Form's questions.
