# How to Add an Announcement for Specific Teams

## Overview
Announcements appear on your learners' dashboards when they log in. By default an announcement is visible to everyone, but you can restrict it so only chosen teams see it — useful for updates that are only relevant to a particular department, location or cohort.

## How to restrict an announcement to specific teams
1. Go to **Settings → Features** and scroll down to the **Dashboard** section.

2. Turn on **Enable dashboard announcements** if it isn't already.

3. Click **Manage announcements**, then click **Create announcement** (or open an existing one with the **Edit** pencil icon).

4. Fill in the announcement's details, then use the **Restrict to Teams** field to select the teams that should see it. Click **Create** (or **Save**).

## Things to keep in mind
* **Restrict to Teams** is optional — leave it empty to show the announcement to everyone.
* You can select more than one team; the announcement then shows to members of any of the selected teams.
* A learner needs to be a member of a selected team to see the announcement, so make sure your teams are set up first.
* You can change the team restriction at any time by editing the announcement (see *How to Edit an Announcement*).

## FAQs
**What happens if I don't restrict an announcement?**
It's shown to all learners who can see the dashboard.

**Can I restrict to more than one team?**
Yes — select as many teams as you need in the **Restrict to Teams** field.

**Can I change which teams see it later?**
Yes — edit the announcement and update the **Restrict to Teams** field.

## Who can do this
**Owners** and **Admins** can create and restrict announcements. **Managers**, **Content Managers**, **People Managers**, **Instructors**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users cannot.
