## Overview
Every person in your organisation has a profile that stores their name, contact details and account settings. When something changes — a new position, a corrected name, a different country or timezone — you can update it from the **Edit account** panel on their profile. This article covers the everyday details on the **Core details** tab. Some fields have their own dedicated articles: see **How to Change a Person's Email Address**, **How to Change a Person's Role**, **How to Change a Person's Login Type**, **How to Assign a Manager to a Person**, **How to Update a Person's Custom Field Values** and **How to Change a Person's Profile Photo**.

## How to edit a person's details
1. Go to **People** and open the person's profile.
2. Click **Actions → Edit account** (or the **Edit** link in the profile card on the right).
3. On the **Core details** tab, update any of the available fields — **First name**, **Last name**, **Position**, **State**, **Country**, **Language** and **Timezone**.
4. Click **Save changes**.

You'll see a confirmation once the account has been updated, and the profile refreshes to show the new details.

> **Note:** Which fields you can see and change depends on your role and on the person's setup. **Role**, **Login Type** and **Manager** only appear to Owners and Admins (and **Manager** only when your organisation manages people individually rather than through Teams). An **Access expiry date** field appears when access expiry is switched on for your organisation.

## Things to keep in mind
* First and last names are required and must be at least two characters.
* If the person's profile is synced from an HR system, some fields may be overwritten on the next sync — check how they're managed before editing.
* If you don't see an **Edit account** option, you don't have permission to edit that person, or your reseller has account changes switched off.
* The **Additional details** tab holds your organisation's Custom Fields — see **How to Update a Person's Custom Field Values**.

## FAQs
**Where do I find the edit option?**
Open the person's profile from **People**, then click **Actions → Edit account**. You can also click the **Edit** link at the top of the profile card on the right-hand side.

**Why can't I see the Role or Manager fields?**
Those fields are only shown to Owners and Admins. The **Manager** field is also hidden when your organisation manages people through Teams rather than by assigning an individual manager.

**Do my changes take effect immediately?**
Yes. Once you click **Save changes** the profile updates straight away.

## Who can do this
**Owners** and **Admins** can edit any person's details. **Managers** and **People Managers** can edit the details of people who report to them. **Content Managers**, **Instructors**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users can only edit their own profile. Editing **Role**, **Login Type** and **Manager** is limited to **Owners** and **Admins**.
