## Overview

By default an Event is private — only the people it has been assigned to can see it. Marking an Event as **Available in Library** publishes it so that all of your learners can find it in the Library and register to attend themselves, without waiting to be assigned.

Turning this on also unlocks the Event's Library-focused settings — a dedicated **Library image**, the option to restrict who sees it to specific Teams, and (if enabled) an approval step when someone self-assigns.

## Making an event available in the Library

1. Go to **Events** in the left-hand menu and open the Event you want to publish.
2. At the top of the Event editor, turn on the **Available in Library?** toggle.

3. Once the Event is available in the Library, a **Library image** picker appears. This image is shown on the Event's card in the Library — it uses a 16:9 ratio and falls back to the cover image if you leave it empty.

4. Make any other changes you need, then click **Save** in the unsaved-changes bar at the top of the page to publish your changes.

## Things to keep in mind

> **Note:** The **Available in Library?** toggle only appears if the "public events" feature is enabled for your organisation. If you can't see it, ask an Owner or Admin to enable it in your settings.

* Turning the toggle off again reverts the Event to private, and clears its Library image, any Team restrictions, and any self-assignment approval settings.
* Making an Event available in the Library does not assign it to anyone — it simply lets learners find and register for it on their own.
* By default every learner can see a Library Event. To limit visibility, use the **Select restricted teams** control that appears once the Event is available in the Library.

## FAQs

**Does making an event available in the Library assign it to my learners?**
No. It only makes the Event discoverable in the Library so learners can register themselves. To push an Event to specific people or Teams, use **Assign event** instead.

**Can I control who sees the event in the Library?**
Yes. Once the Event is available in the Library, a **Select restricted teams** control appears so you can limit it to specific Teams. Leave it empty to make the Event visible to everyone.

**Where does the image on the Library card come from?**
From the **Library image** field that appears when the Event is available in the Library. If you leave it empty, the Event's cover image is used instead.

## Who can do this

**Owners**, **Admins**, **Managers**, **Content Managers** and **Instructors** can edit Events and change this setting. **People Managers**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users have read-only access to Events and cannot. The **Available in Library?** toggle is also only shown when the public-events feature is enabled for your organisation.
