## Overview
Adding a User manually creates their SuperPath account for them, with all the details you want on their profile — role, position, manager, Teams and login type — filled in up front. It's the right choice when you're onboarding one person at a time and you already know how they should be set up.

If you'd rather the person fill in their own details, use **Invite People** instead. If you're adding lots of people at once, use **Bulk Add / Update People**.

## What you can set when adding a User
On the **Core details** tab:
* **First name**, **Last name** and **Email Address** — required. The email address is what they'll use to sign in.
* **Role** — required. This controls what the person can see and do in SuperPath.
* **Position** — their job title in your organisation.
* **Manager** — search for and select the person who manages them.
* **Teams** — add them to one or more existing Teams.
* **State** and **Country** — where the person is based.
* **Login Type** — required. How they'll sign in: **Password**, **Magic Link**, **Google** or **Microsoft** (plus **Custom SSO** if your account is configured for it).
* **Access expiry date** — only shown if access expiry is enabled on your account. Set a future date to have their access end automatically.

If you use Custom Fields for People, an **Additional details** tab appears alongside **Core details** so you can complete those fields at the same time.

> **Note:** Adding someone manually doesn't email them. When you're ready for them to log in, send them a welcome email from the People list — see **How to Send a Welcome Email to a New User**.

## Things to keep in mind
* **Add Person** stays disabled until First name, Last name, Email Address and Role are all filled in.
* The email address must be unique in your account — you can't create a second User with an address that's already in use.
* If your plan has a fixed number of seats, you'll be blocked from adding someone once you've used them all.
* The **Manager** search only returns people who hold a role that can manage others — **Owners**, **Admins**, **Managers** and **People Managers**.
* Only static Teams can be selected. Dynamic Teams aren't listed, because membership of those is worked out automatically from the criteria you set on the Team.
* If your account requires a specific login type, that will be the only option available in **Login Type**.

## FAQs
**Does the person get an email as soon as I add them?**
No. Nothing is sent when you create the account. Send them a welcome email from the People list when you want them to start.

**What's the difference between Manually Add Person and Invite People?**
**Manually Add Person** creates the account immediately with the details you enter. **Invite People** emails one or more people an invitation and they complete their own details when they accept — pending invitations are listed under **View invites**.

**Can I add someone to a Dynamic Team here?**
No. Dynamic Team membership is always calculated from the Team's criteria, so people are added and removed automatically.

**Can Managers add people to SuperPath?**
No. Managers and People Managers can view and update their direct reports, but adding new Users is limited to Owners and Admins.

## Who can do this
**Owners** and **Admins** can add Users manually — the **Add People** button is only shown to those roles, and the API rejects the request from anyone else. **Managers** and **People Managers** can open the People list and update their direct reports but cannot create new Users. **Content Managers**, **Instructors**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users have no access to the People list.
