## Overview
If someone with a time-limited account is staying on — a contractor being made permanent, or a secondment that's been extended — you can remove their access expiry date so their access no longer ends automatically. Clearing the date grants permanent access. Once a person has an access expiry date set, their profile shows an **Access expires on [date]** line next to a **Clear** link.

## How to remove an access expiry date
There are two ways to remove an expiry date.

**From the profile:**
1. Go to **People** and open the person's profile.
2. Next to **Access expires on**, click **Clear**.

**From the Edit account panel:**
1. Go to **People** and open the person's profile.
2. Click **Actions → Edit account** (or the **Edit** link in the profile card).
3. In the **Access expiry date** field, clear the selected date.
4. Click **Save changes**.

Once the date is removed, the **Access expires on** line disappears from the profile and the person has permanent access.

## Things to keep in mind
* Clearing the date gives the person permanent access — their access will no longer be withdrawn automatically.
* The **Clear** link on the profile only appears while an expiry date is set.
* If a person's access has already expired and they've been disabled, removing the date isn't enough on its own — you'll also need to re-enable them.
* To remove expiry dates from several people at once, use the bulk action on the People list — see *How to Set Access Expiry for Multiple People*.

## FAQs
**What happens after I remove the expiry date?**
The person keeps their access indefinitely — it won't be withdrawn automatically any more.

**The person's access already expired. Does clearing the date bring them back?**
Not by itself. If they were disabled when their access expired, re-enable them as well as removing (or updating) the date.

**Where's the Clear link?**
It appears on the profile next to **Access expires on**, but only while a date is set. You can also clear the date from the **Edit account** panel.

## Who can do this
Removing an access expiry date is part of the **Edit account** panel, so it follows the same access as editing a person's account. **Owners** and **Admins** can remove an expiry date for anyone. **Managers** and **People Managers** can do so for the people who report to them. **Content Managers**, **Instructors**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users cannot. The feature must also be enabled for your account.
