## Overview

The SuperPath AI Assistant now lives where your team already works. Ask it about your learning data right inside Slack, in plain English, and get an answer back in seconds without opening a browser or building a report. Who is overdue on compliance training? Which teams have gone quiet this month? What did people finish last week? Just ask, and the answer streams into Slack as the AI Assistant works it out, with links to the sources so you can check the detail in SuperPath.

It is the same AI Assistant you use in SuperPath, with the same knowledge of your organisation and the same rules about what you can see. The only difference is where you ask.

## What you can ask

When you open a new chat, the AI Assistant suggests a few questions to get you started:

* **Who is overdue?** Who is overdue on compliance training?
* **Summarise last week.** Summarise last week's completions.
* **Lowest engagement.** Which teams have the lowest engagement?
* **Schedule a report.** How do I schedule a recurring report?

Beyond those, ask anything you would ask the AI Assistant in SuperPath:

* **Progress and compliance:** who has not started a Pathway, who is overdue, what is due this week, how a Team is tracking.
* **Engagement and trends:** completions over time, most and least active Teams, the most viewed Knowledge content.
* **People:** where one person is up to with their learning, and who is at risk of falling behind.
* **How to:** step by step help with any SuperPath feature, drawn from the help centre.

Ask follow up questions in the same thread and the AI Assistant remembers what you were talking about, so you can drill in with *"just the Sydney team"* or *"and last month?"*.

## Before you start

* Your organisation must have connected SuperPath to Slack. See *How to Connect Your Organisation to Slack*.
* The AI Assistant must be turned on for your organisation, and your role must be allowed to use it. See *Who can do this* below.
* You need to link your Slack account to SuperPath once. The AI Assistant prompts you the first time. See *How to Use SuperPath in Slack*.
* Your Slack workspace must be on a paid Slack plan. Slack only offers AI apps on paid plans, and not to guests in a workspace.

## How to ask the AI Assistant a question in Slack

1. In Slack, open the **SuperPath** app. You can find it under **Apps** in the sidebar, or with Slack's AI apps and agents button at the top of Slack.
2. Start a new chat and choose a suggested question, or type your own.
3. The first time, if your Slack account is not linked yet, click the link the AI Assistant sends you and confirm in your browser. Then ask again.
4. Watch the answer come in. You can see what the AI Assistant is doing as it works, such as looking up learning records, and the answer builds as it goes.
5. Reply in the same thread to ask a follow up question.

## How answers work

* Every answer ends with **Sources:** so you can see which SuperPath records it used.
* **Open in SuperPath** opens the whole conversation in SuperPath, where you can keep going, see tables and charts in full, and find it again later in your AI Assistant history.
* Each answer carries a short reminder that the AI Assistant can make mistakes, and that it answers from your SuperPath data only. Nothing is read from Slack: not your channels, not your messages, not your files.
* If an answer includes something Slack cannot show, such as a large table, the AI Assistant tells you and links you to the full answer in SuperPath.

## When the AI Assistant prepares a change

In Slack, the AI Assistant is there to answer questions. It can still help you get things done: ask it to assign learning, build a Pathway or create a Workflow, and it prepares the change for you. Nothing changes until you confirm it.

When a change is ready, the AI Assistant tells you it needs confirming and gives you a link. Click **Open in SuperPath** to review exactly what will change and confirm it there. This keeps every change visible in full before it happens, the same safeguard as in SuperPath. See *How the AI Assistant Makes Changes*.

## Things to keep in mind

* The AI Assistant only ever sees what you can see in SuperPath. A Manager's answers cover the people who report to them, not the whole organisation.
* Conversations you have in Slack are saved in SuperPath with your other AI Assistant conversations, and follow the same retention.
* Nobody else in Slack can see your conversation with the AI Assistant. It happens in your own chat with the SuperPath app.
* Approving and declining requests happens with the buttons on SuperPath notifications, not through the AI Assistant. See *How to Approve and Decline Requests in Slack*.

## FAQs

**The AI Assistant says it is available to my account admins. Why?**
Your role is not included in your organisation's **Who can use the AI Assistant** setting. You can still see your own learning on the SuperPath app's Home tab in Slack.

**The AI Assistant says it is not switched on for my account. What do I do?**
Ask your Owner or Admin to turn on the AI Assistant in **Settings** > **Features**. See *Managing AI Features*.

**I cannot find the AI Assistant in Slack. Why?**
Check that your workspace is on a paid Slack plan and that you are a full member of the workspace, not a guest. If your organisation connected Slack before the AI Assistant was available, an Owner or Admin needs to disconnect Slack from **Settings** > **Integrations** and connect it again. See *How to Connect Your Organisation to Slack*.

**Does SuperPath read our Slack messages to answer questions?**
No. The AI Assistant uses your SuperPath data only. It never reads your channels, messages or files in Slack.

**Is our data used to train AI models?**
No. Your data is never used to train AI models.

## Who can do this

The AI Assistant in Slack follows exactly the same access as in SuperPath, set by your organisation's **Who can use the AI Assistant** setting. On **Admins only** it is **Owners** and **Admins**. On **Admins and managers** it also covers **Managers** and **People Managers**, whose answers are scoped to the people who report directly to them. **Content Managers**, **Instructors**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users cannot use it on either setting, and see a short message saying so if they try. Turning the AI Assistant on and choosing the access level is done in **Settings** > **Features** by an **Owner** or **Admin**.
