## Overview
The Engagement Dashboard answers one question: is learning actually happening, and is it going up or down? It shows how many people are signing in, how much they are finishing, how long that learning represents, and where the learning you assigned has got to. Every figure is compared with the period before it, so you see movement rather than a snapshot.

It replaces the old Company Analytics page. The Engagement Dashboard deliberately does not tell you whether a number is good. SuperPath has no targets or benchmarks, and what counts as healthy differs from one organisation to the next, so the dashboard shows the signal and the comparison and leaves the judgement to you. That is why nothing on the page is coloured red or green.

## How to open the Engagement Dashboard
For your whole organisation:

1. From the left-hand menu, open **Dashboard**.
2. Use the switcher at the top right to choose **Company Dashboard**.
3. Under the title, click the **Engagement** tab.

Or open **Reports** from the left-hand menu and click the **Engagement Dashboard** tile.

If you manage people, you also have an Engagement view for your own team:

1. From the left-hand menu, open **Dashboard**.
2. Use the switcher to choose **Team Dashboard**.
3. Click the **Engagement** tab.

The **Learnings** tab next to it is the dashboard you already know: what needs attention right now, and the learning-progress table. **Engagement** is the trend view. Switching dashboards keeps whichever tab you are on, so moving from Team to Company while viewing Engagement keeps you on Engagement.

## The context strip: what your figures cover
Directly under the controls is a grey strip that states what you are looking at. It is worth reading before you interpret anything on the page:

* **The period**, for example *5 Aug to 3 Sep 2026*.
* **The comparison window**, shown as *vs 6 Jul to 4 Aug 2026*. Every delta on the page is measured against this.
* **Who is included**: **All teams** and a headcount, the teams you have filtered to, or **Your direct reports** on the Team view.
* **The time zone** used to decide where one day ends and the next begins. This is your organisation's configured time zone, not your browser's, so everyone in your organisation sees the same day boundaries.
* Occasional notes, such as **Start date adjusted to the earliest available data** when you ask for more history than exists.

The **Generate summary report** button sits at the right-hand end of this strip, because a report describes exactly the period, comparison and population shown beside it.

## Participation rate and Learning hours
The two cards at the top are the headline figures.

**Participation rate** is the share of your people who signed in during the period. The card shows the percentage, the count behind it (for example *19 of 91 people signed in*), and a small trend line. Its change is shown in **percentage points** and labelled **pp**, because it is a rate: a move from 15.2% to 6.5% is a fall of 8.7 percentage points, not a fall of 57%.

**Learning hours** is the total expected length of everything completed in the period, based on the duration recorded on each item by whoever built it. This is an estimate, not measured time. SuperPath does not track how long someone actually had a page open, so a 20-minute course counts as 20 minutes whether the learner rushed it or took an hour. The definition tooltip on the card says so, and the wording travels into any image you copy.

## Active users, completions and new assignments
Below the headline cards are three trend charts.

* **Active users** is the number of different people who signed in during the period. Someone who signs in five times counts once. This is the closest thing to a pulse: if it falls, fewer people are showing up at all.
* **Learning completions** counts each Pathway or individual assignment finished during the period. Steps inside a Pathway are not counted separately, so finishing a six-step Pathway is one completion, not seven. If someone is re-assigned something and completes it again, each completion counts.
* **New assigned learnings** is what was assigned to people during the period, whether by an Admin or automatically by a workflow. This one measures what your team sent out, not what learners did, and the card says so. Read it as context for the other two: assignments rising much faster than completions usually means existing participants are absorbing more, not that more people joined in.

Each chart draws the current period as a solid line in your brand colour and the previous period as a grey dashed line, with a legend naming both. When your period includes today, the final part of the chart is hatched and the legend adds **Today (in progress)**, because that day is not finished yet.

Hover any point on any chart, including the small trend lines on the two headline cards, to read that day's figure with its unit.

## The Learning funnel
The funnel takes everything assigned during your selected period and tracks it to where it stands today, across three stages that map exactly to the statuses SuperPath stores: **Assigned**, **In progress** and **Completed**. Each stage shows a count and, for the later two, its share of the cohort.

Three callouts sit beside it, because they cut across the funnel rather than being stages of it:

* **Not started**, the part of this period's assigned learning nobody has opened yet.
* **Overdue in this period**, items from this period's cohort that are past their due date and not finished, with the number of people affected.
* **Total overdue right now**, everything past its due date and not finished across your whole platform, not limited to the selected period. This is the number to act on when you want to know your current exposure.

Overdue means open and past due. Something completed after its due date counts as **Completed**, not overdue, which is the single definition SuperPath uses everywhere.

> **Note:** Items assigned near the end of your period have had little time to progress, so a recent period will always show a larger **Not started** figure. The cohort label above the funnel states the window so this reads as timing rather than failure.

## Top learning content
The last card ranks the learning people engaged with most during the period, and shows where those people stand today. A row is included if someone was assigned it, started it or completed it inside your period, and rows are ordered by how many people that was. The bar splits those people into completed, in progress and not started.

Two tabs decide what a row represents:

* **Pathways** ranks whole Pathways.
* **Content** ranks individual items: courses, videos, articles, Forms and Events. An item that is both assigned directly and reached as a step inside a Pathway appears once, with a subtitle telling you both, for example *Course, assigned directly, in 2 pathways*.

The status split is as of now, not as of the end of your period, so a recently assigned item will show more people who have not started. Content that has since been deleted still appears if it had activity, labelled **Deleted item**.

## Reading the numbers honestly
A few deliberate design choices are worth knowing, because they exist to stop you drawing a wrong conclusion:

* **Every metric states its own definition.** The **ⓘ** icon on each card gives the full definition and any caveats. If two people in your organisation disagree about what "completion" means, that tooltip settles it, and the same definition feeds the charts, the AI insights and the summary report.
* **Deltas are neutral.** The arrow shows direction only. Up is not automatically good: more assigned learning is admin activity, not engagement.
* **A part-finished period is labelled.** When your range includes today, the comparison covers the same number of elapsed days in each period, so a half-finished month never reads as a collapse.
* **Where there is no comparison, you see none.** If the period before yours falls outside the available history, the chips read **No prior period** and no dashed line is drawn, rather than comparing against zero.
* **Small groups carry a warning.** Filter to a handful of people and a notice appears explaining that the figures may describe individuals rather than a group. The figures are still shown; SuperPath does not hide them, it asks you to take care when sharing them.

## Things to keep in mind
* The dashboard measures sign-ins, not sessions. Someone returning on a session they never signed out of is not counted as a new sign-in, so **Active users** is a conservative figure.
* Day boundaries use your organisation's time zone, shown on the context strip.
* History goes back three years. Ask for more and the start date is pulled forward, with a note on the context strip telling you.
* The funnel and **Top learning content** are live current-state views, so they can move during the day. The trend charts are built from settled daily figures and are stable.
* Deactivating a person does not rewrite history. Figures for a period that has already closed stay as they were.
* Team membership is current membership. Filtering to a Team shows the people in it today, including for past periods.

## FAQs
**What happened to Company Analytics?**
The Engagement Dashboard replaces it. Old links to the Company Analytics page now open the Engagement view of the Company Dashboard automatically, so saved bookmarks keep working.

**Why does Participation rate use "pp"?**
Because it is a percentage itself. Showing the change in percentage points avoids the confusion of a percentage change of a percentage.

**Are Learning hours actual time spent?**
No. They are estimated from the duration recorded on each learning item. SuperPath does not measure time on screen, and the card is labelled as an estimate for that reason.

**Why is my previous-period line missing?**
Your period is long enough that the period before it falls outside the three years of available history. The chips will read **No prior period**.

**Why does the funnel show so many not started?**
Items assigned near the end of the period have not had time to progress. Widen the period or read the funnel alongside the cohort label above it.

**Can I click a funnel stage to see who is in it?**
No. The Engagement Dashboard is a summary view. To see individual people, use the **Learnings** tab or the Reports area.

## Who can do this
The Engagement view of the **Company Dashboard** is available to **Owners** and **Admins** only. **Managers**, **People Managers**, **Content Managers**, **Instructors**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users cannot open it, and the **Engagement Dashboard** tile on the **Reports** page is shown only to **Owners** and **Admins**. The Engagement view of the **Team Dashboard** is available to anyone who has at least one direct report, whatever their role, and covers only the people who report to them. Someone with no direct reports cannot open the Team view at all. Note that the underlying permission is not the constraint here: every role can read analytics data, so the restriction is the role check on the company view and the reporting line on the team view.
