## Overview
When you complete learning that awards a Certificate, that Certificate is recorded against your profile. This article shows where to find the Certificates you've earned and how to open or download them.

## Viewing your certificates on your profile
1. Open your **Profile**.
2. Select the **Certificates** tab.
3. You'll see a list of your Certificates, each with its name, description, provider, the date it was awarded and any expiry date.

The **Certificates** tab only appears if your organisation has the Certificates feature switched on.

## Viewing a certificate when you finish learning
When you complete learning that awards a Certificate, you can open it straight from the thing you just finished — you don't have to go to your profile.

* **Pathways** — the Pathway's completion page shows a **Certificate awarded** line with a **View** button.
* **Courses and other assigned learning** — the assignment page shows the same **Certificate awarded** line with a **View** button once you've completed it.

> **Good to know:** Your Certificate is created in the background the moment you finish, so it may not appear on the page immediately. If you've just completed something and the line isn't there yet, refresh the page.

## Downloading a certificate
Wherever a Certificate has a file attached, its name (on your profile) or the **View** button (on a completion or assignment page) is a link that opens the Certificate in a new browser tab. From there you can save or print it using your browser — for a PDF, for example, use your browser's download or print option.

> **Good to know:** Whether the file opens in the browser or downloads straight away depends on the file type and your browser's settings, so it may open for viewing first and then let you save it.

## Adding a certificate yourself
If your organisation has switched it on, you can record qualifications you earned outside SuperPath — an external first aid course, a licence renewal — against your own profile.

1. Open your **Profile** and select the **Certificates** tab.
2. Click **Add certificates**.
3. Choose the Certificate from the **Select existing certificate** list.
4. Optionally set the **Date awarded** and **Expiry Date**.
5. Optionally upload a **Certificate File** as evidence — a scan or PDF of the qualification.
6. Click **Add Certificate**.

You can only choose from the Certificates your organisation has already set up. If the list is empty, or doesn't include the one you need, you'll see a note asking you to contact your administrator to have it added — you can't create a new Certificate yourself.

Once added, you can edit or remove Certificates you added yourself using the actions at the end of the row. Certificates you were awarded automatically, or that an Admin recorded for you, can't be changed or deleted.

> **Note:** If you don't see an **Add certificates** button, your organisation hasn't opened this up — Certificates are added by your Admins or Managers instead.

## Things to keep in mind
* Certificates you've earned show up once you complete the learning that awards them; they're added to your **Certificates** tab automatically.
* If a Certificate doesn't have a file attached, its name is shown as plain text with no link to open.
* Certificates can carry an expiry date; both the awarded and expiry dates are shown in the list.
* The **Certificates** tab is only available when your organisation has enabled Certificates.
* Adding your own Certificates is a separate setting your organisation controls, so the **Add certificates** button may not be there for you.
* You can only edit or remove Certificates you added yourself — awarded ones are read-only.
* A **plug icon** beside a Certificate's name means it has also been recorded in your organisation's HR system, so it appears on your employee training record there as well.

## FAQs
**Where do I find the certificates I've earned?**
Open your **Profile** and select the **Certificates** tab. When you finish a Pathway or a course that awards one, you can also open it directly from that completion or assignment page.

**How do I download a certificate?**
Click the Certificate's name (on your profile) or the **View** button (on a completion or assignment page) to open it in a new tab, then save or print it from your browser.

**Why don't I see a Certificates tab?**
The tab only appears when your organisation has the Certificates feature switched on. If you expected a Certificate and can't find it, check with your Manager or Admin.

**My certificate has an expiry date — what does that mean?**
Some Certificates are valid for a set period. The expiry date shown tells you when it lapses; your organisation may ask you to renew it before then.

**I finished the course but there's no certificate link.**
Your Certificate is created in the background just after you complete, so refresh the page. If it still isn't there, the learning may not have a Certificate attached — check with your Manager or Admin.

**Can I add a certificate I earned somewhere else?**
Only if your organisation has switched that on. When they have, an **Add certificates** button appears on your **Certificates** tab and you can choose from the Certificates they've set up. You can't create a new type of Certificate yourself.

**Why can't I delete a certificate from my profile?**
You can only remove Certificates you added yourself. Ones awarded automatically, or recorded for you by an Admin, are read-only — ask your Admin if one needs correcting.

## Who can do this
Every user can view and open their own Certificates from their **Profile**, and see a Certificate awarded on a Pathway completion page or a completed assignment — this includes **Employees**, **Restricted** users and every other role. The **Certificates** tab is only shown when your organisation has the Certificates feature enabled.

Adding your own Certificate additionally requires your organisation to set **Who can add certificates** to **Everyone** under **Settings → Features**. With that in place, every role except **Restricted** users can add a Certificate to their own profile, and edit or delete the ones they added.
