## Overview
Graded Forms let you validate learner knowledge by setting a pass mark and controlling how many attempts a learner gets. This extends learning validation beyond Courses, so you can assess understanding across documents, articles, events and more. They're especially useful when the learning content doesn't sit inside a traditional Course. Use them to make sure learners understand key content, add accountability to non-Course learning, reinforce important policies, and track performance with measurable outcomes.

## How to create a Graded Form
1. In the left-hand menu, go to **Forms & Quizzes** and create a new form or open an existing one (you can also do this when adding a new form inside a Learning Pathway).
2. Add your questions. Grading is based on **Multiple choice** and **Checkbox** (multi-select) questions, so mark the correct answer for each of those.
3. Open the **Form settings** panel using the **Settings** cog next to the form title, then turn on **Pass percentage (%)** and enter the score a learner must reach to pass.
4. To let learners try more than once, turn on **Allow Retries** and set **No. allowed attempts** (between 1 and 999). If **Allow Retries** is off, learners get a single attempt.

Once grading is enabled, learners must meet the pass mark to complete the form, and they're limited to the number of attempts you set.

> **Note:** You can assign a form individually to users without it being inside a Learning Pathway.

## Attach the form to a Pathway (optional)
1. Open a **Learning Pathway** and add your content (a document, article, and so on).
2. Attach the form as a **knowledge check**.
3. Optionally add workflow steps — such as **manager approval** or **review steps** — to trigger actions based on completion.
4. Publish the Pathway and assign it to learners or teams.

## Viewing results and reporting
You can track performance in two ways.

**Quick View** shows each learner's score, their pass/fail status, and the number of attempts they've used.

**Detailed analytics** let you dive deeper into responses, identify trends and gaps, and export results for reporting.

## Things to keep in mind
* Use graded forms after key content to reinforce learning, and keep questions clear and aligned to your objectives.
* Set realistic pass marks (around 70–85% works well) and limit retries to maintain integrity.
* Only **Multiple choice** and **Checkbox** questions with a correct answer marked are scored — other question types don't affect the result.
* Combine graded forms with workflows (such as manager approval) for extra accountability.

## FAQs
**Can I use a graded form outside a Pathway?**
Yes. You can assign a form directly to users without adding it to a Learning Pathway.

**How many attempts can a learner have?**
By default a learner gets one attempt. Turn on **Allow Retries** and set **No. allowed attempts** (up to 999) to give them more.

**What question types are graded?**
Multiple choice and Checkbox (multi-select) questions with a correct answer marked. Other types don't contribute to the score.

## Who can do this
**Owners**, **Admins**, **Managers**, **Content Managers** and **Instructors** can create and grade Forms. **People Managers**, **Employees** and **Restricted** users have read-only access to Forms and cannot create or grade them.
