Using Canva images in SuperPath

Using Canva images in SuperPath

SuperPath connects directly with Canva, so you can bring your Canva designs into your learning assets without exporting and re-uploading. Once connected, you can choose an existing Canva design or create a new one, and SuperPath will pull it in at the correct dimensions automatically.

Connecting Canva to SuperPath

  1. Click your profile, then open your Settings.
  2. Select Connect to Canva.
  3. Canva will ask you to grant permission for SuperPath to read your designs and create designs. Both are needed so you can pull in existing designs and create new ones.
  4. Select Allow. You'll be returned to SuperPath, now connected to Canva.

Using an existing Canva design

  1. Go to the asset you want to update, for example a course cover or thumbnail.
  2. Click the cover or thumbnail, then select Choose from Canva.
  3. SuperPath loads the designs already in your Canva account, shown in the correct dimensions for that asset.
  4. Select the design you want. It drops straight into place.
  5. Save the asset. Your image is applied and ready to deploy.

Creating a new design in Canva

  1. Click the cover, thumbnail or image field on the asset you want to update.
  2. Select Choose from Canva, then Create in Canva.
  3. Canva opens already set to the correct dimensions for that asset. Build your design as needed.
  4. When you're finished, select Return to SuperPath.
  5. SuperPath downloads your design from Canva, uploads it, and applies it to the asset automatically.

Where you can use Canva images
Canva is available across your learning assets and platform configuration, including:

  • Courses (covers and thumbnails)
  • Pathways
  • Knowledge
  • Forms
  • Events
  • Roadmaps
  • Platform settings, such as banner images

In each case, the image picker shows the correct dimensions for that asset, so your design is sized properly before you apply it.

Things to keep in mind
You only need to connect Canva once. After that, the option to choose from or create in Canva is available anywhere SuperPath uses an image.
SuperPath needs permission to both read and create designs in Canva. If you decline either permission, some parts of the integration may not work.
When you create a design and select Return to SuperPath, the image is downloaded and stored in SuperPath at that point in time. Editing the original design in Canva later will not update the image already applied in SuperPath.

FAQ

Do I need to connect Canva every time I want to use it?
No. You connect Canva once from your profile settings. After that, the option to choose from or create in Canva is available anywhere SuperPath uses an image.

Do I need a paid Canva account?
You'll need a Canva account to use the integration.

Will my SuperPath image update if I edit the design in Canva later?
No. When you select Return to SuperPath, the image is downloaded and stored in SuperPath at that moment. Editing the original design in Canva afterwards won't change the image already applied. To update it, pull the design in again.

Why does SuperPath ask for permission to create designs, not just read them?
The integration lets you both use existing Canva designs and create brand new ones without leaving SuperPath. The create permission is what makes the Create in Canva option work.

Can I use Canva images across more than just courses?
Yes. Canva is available across your learning assets and platform configuration, including pathways, knowledge, forms, events, roadmaps and platform settings such as banner images.

Will my images be the right size?
Yes. SuperPath opens Canva at the correct dimensions for whatever asset you're working on, and the image picker shows you the true dimensions before you apply a design, so there's no awkward cropping.

Who can connect Canva?
The Canva integration is available for all users

How do I disconnect Canva?
