Overview

A Rating question lets learners respond on a visual scale — for example rating something from 1 to 5 stars. It's a great fit for feedback and surveys, and is one of the question types you can pick when building a Form or quiz.

Add a Rating question

  1. Open the Form you want to edit — you'll land in the question builder in edit mode.
  2. Click Add question at the bottom of the builder to add a new question.
  3. With the new question selected, open the question type dropdown to the right of the question title and choose Rating.
  4. Set the maximum rating using the number selector (any value from 1 to 10; the default is 5).
  5. Choose the rating icon — a star, a heart or a thumbs-up.
  6. Type your question in the question field, and use the Required toggle if learners must answer. Your changes save automatically.

Good to know: The learner's answer is recorded as a number from 1 up to the maximum you set.

Things to keep in mind

  • You can set the scale to anything from 1 to 10 — the default is 5.
  • The rating icon can be a star, a heart or a thumbs-up; it's purely visual and doesn't change the recorded value.
  • Rating questions collect feedback and don't count towards a Form's pass score, so there's no "correct" answer to set.
