Overview

A common misconception is that Pathways can only contain content SuperPath provides. That's not the case — you can build a Pathway almost entirely from your own material: web links to your systems, files and documents you upload, SCORM courses, and text you write directly in SuperPath. When you add a step, the content picker shows your organisation's own content alongside anything from the SuperPath library, and you can upload or create new content on the spot.

Add a step to your Pathway

  1. Open the Pathway you're building (or start a new one).
  2. Click Add Step to open the menu of step types:
    • Add Content — pick from your content and the library, or add new content.
    • Add Event — add a live or scheduled Event.
    • Add Form — add a Form or quiz.
    • Add Text — write your own content directly in the step (see below).
  3. Use Add Section to group steps, and drag steps to reorder them.

Good to know: Depending on your account settings you may also see options to add a Knowledge article or generate a quiz.

The quickest way to bring your own material in is to create it as content and add it to the step in one go.

  1. Click Add Step → Add Content.
  2. In the picker, choose Add new content to open the Add Content panel.
  3. Pick how you're adding your own content:
    • Add a website link — point to content on any site (for example Google Drive, Confluence, Udemy or your intranet).
    • Upload a file — upload a document, PDF, video or similar.
    • Upload a SCORM course — upload a SCORM package (if SCORM is enabled on your account); it's processed in the background.
  4. Work through the details wizard — thumbnail and cover, title, Content Type (Article, Audio, Book, Certification, Course, Document, Podcast, Video, or Wiki / Intranet), description, and optional extras like skills, learning time and CPD points.
  5. Save. Your new content is added to the Pathway as a step and stored in your content library for reuse.

Note: Files and content you upload are private to your organisation — "Uploaded files will only be accessible by people within your organisation."

Write your own content in a Text step

When you just want to write something yourself — instructions, context, or a short lesson — you don't need a separate content item at all.

  1. Click Add Step → Add Text.
  2. Write your content in the rich-text editor. The toolbar covers formatting — headings, bold/italic/underline, lists, block quotes, highlight, alignment and indent.
  3. The step saves as you go and forms part of the Pathway like any other step.

Good to know: A Text step's toolbar is for formatting text, not for embedding video or interactive content. If you need to add a video or an interactive element, use Add Content instead (see above) — it supports uploading a video file, linking to one, or adding embed/iframe content as its own step.

Show only your own content in the picker

When you add a Content step, the picker lists everything available to you. To focus on your own material, use the toggle at the top of the picker:

  • All content — shows your own content plus the SuperPath library.
  • Your content only (labelled with your platform's name) — hides the library and shows just your organisation's own content.

Good to know: The SuperPath library only appears in the picker if it's enabled for your account. If it isn't, the picker already shows only your own content.

Things to keep in mind

  • Your own content and SuperPath library content behave the same way once added — the difference is only where they came from.
  • Uploaded content is reusable: once you've added it, it lives in your content library and can be dropped into other Pathways.
  • SCORM upload is available only if SCORM is enabled on your account, and large packages take a little while to process.
  • A Text step is authored inline and isn't a separate content item, so it isn't reusable across Pathways the way uploaded content is.

FAQs

Can a Pathway use only my own content?
Yes. You can build a Pathway entirely from links, uploaded files, SCORM courses and Text steps you create — no SuperPath library content is required.

How do I add a video or document I already have?
Use Add Step → Add Content → Add new content, then Upload a file for a document or video, or Add a website link if it's hosted elsewhere.

What's the difference between Add Content and Add Text?
Add Content adds a reusable content item (linked, uploaded or from the library) — use this for video or interactive/embedded content. Add Text lets you write formatted text directly in the step; its toolbar doesn't support embedding video or interactive elements.

Is my uploaded content visible to other organisations?
No. Content you upload is private to your organisation.

Who can do this

Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers and Instructors can create or upload content and add steps to a Pathway. People Managers, Employees and Restricted users have read-only access and cannot add content or edit Pathway steps.
