Overview

For file-based content that can be viewed in the browser — such as PDFs, documents, videos and images — you can choose whether your people are able to download or open the file directly, or whether they can only view it inside SuperPath. The Allow Download setting gives you that control, which is useful when you want people to engage with a resource but not keep their own copy.

How to allow or disable downloads

1. Open the content item from your Library and open the Edit content panel (the pencil icon on the right-hand toolbar).
2. Find the Allow Download setting.
3. Turn the toggle on so Users can download or access this file directly, or off so Download is disabled for users.
4. Click Save changes to save.

Note: The Allow Download setting only appears for file content that can be viewed inline — for example PDFs, Word documents, PowerPoint files, videos, images and audio.

Things to keep in mind

• When download is disabled, the direct download and open-file links are hidden from learners, so they view the file within SuperPath instead.
• The setting is only shown for inline-viewable file types. It does not appear for links, SCORM packages or other content that is not a downloadable file.

FAQs

Which file types show the Allow Download option?
Inline-viewable files such as PDF, DOC/DOCX, PPT/PPTX, MP4, MOV, MKV, WEBM, OGG and image formats, as well as audio content.

Does disabling download stop people viewing the content?
No. It only removes the direct download and open-file links — people can still view the file inside SuperPath.

Who can do this

Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers and Instructors can edit Library content and its download setting. People Managers, Employees and Restricted users cannot — they have read-only access to content.
