Overview
Gamification rewards learners for completing learning. Every Pathway awards a default number of points on completion, and you can override that with a custom amount for a specific Pathway. If Badges are set up, a Badge can also be awarded automatically when a learner finishes the Pathway.
Set custom points for a Pathway
- Go to Pathways and open the Pathway.
- In the pathway header, click the Settings (cog) icon to open the Pathway settings panel.
- Scroll to Gamification Settings. The panel shows how many points will be awarded for completing the Pathway.
- Turn on Set custom points and enter the number of points you want this Pathway to award.
- The change saves automatically.

Good to know: Leave Set custom points off to use your account's default points for a completed Pathway.
Award a Badge
Badges are managed centrally in your account's gamification settings and are matched to Pathways there. When a Badge is set to be awarded for a Pathway, the Gamification Settings section shows it, with the message "The following badge will be awarded upon completion:" and the Badge's image and name.
To set up or change which Badge is awarded, go to Settings → Gamification — as the panel notes, "Badges and default points can be managed in settings."
Things to keep in mind
- Gamification Settings only appear if gamification is enabled for your account.
- The Badge information only shows if Badges are enabled and a Badge is configured for the Pathway.
- Points and Badges are awarded on completion of the Pathway.
- Default points and Badge rules are managed centrally under Settings → Gamification, not per-Pathway; the per-Pathway option here is the custom points override.
FAQs
How many points does a Pathway award by default?
Your account's default for a completed Pathway, shown at the top of Gamification Settings. Turn on Set custom points to override it for this Pathway.
How do I choose which Badge is awarded?
Badges and their rules are managed under Settings → Gamification. The Pathway settings panel shows the Badge that will be awarded, if one is configured.
Why don't I see any gamification options?
Gamification must be enabled for your account. Badges also need to be enabled separately for the Badge section to appear.
Who can do this
Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers and Instructors can set custom points on a Pathway. People Managers, Employees and Restricted users have read-only access to Pathways and cannot change these settings. Configuring default points and Badge rules under Settings → Gamification is a separate, account-level task.
