Overview

When Gamification is enabled, SuperPath awards points to your learners for the actions they take — completing content, Events, Forms, Pathways and Roadmap levels, signing in, commenting, and so on. Each of these actions comes with a default point value, and you can tune those values (and set a daily cap) to reflect what your organisation wants to reward most.

This article covers how to adjust the points awarded per action and the daily limits. For a breakdown of which actions earn points, see What Points Are Awarded.

Before you start

Points can only be configured when Gamification is enabled for your account. If it's switched off, the configuration table won't appear. See How to Enable Gamification to turn it on first.

How to configure points and daily limits

  1. Go to Settings → Gamification.
  2. With Enable gamification on your account turned on, find the Gamification configuration section and click show more to expand it.
  3. Review the table. Each row is a learning action, shown in the What action was completed? column. The rows are pre-set — you edit the values on each one, but you can't add or remove actions.
  4. In the Points awarded column, set how many points that action earns. Type a number or use the - and + buttons to adjust it (the minimum is 0).
  5. In the Daily limit column, set how many times per day that action can award points to a user. Type a number or use the - and + buttons (the minimum is 0). Leave it at 0 for no daily cap.
  6. Click Save in the editing bar at the top of the page to store your changes.

Things to keep in mind

  • The action rows are fixed. You can change the points and daily limit on each existing action, but you can't create new actions or delete the ones provided.
  • Daily limit caps how many times per day a single action awards points to a learner — for example, a daily limit of 3 means the learner stops earning points from that action after the third time in a day. A daily limit of 0 means there's no cap.
  • Changes are staged until you click Save — the values won't apply until then.
  • Changes to point values only affect future actions. They aren't applied retrospectively to points already earned. If you need historic points recalculated, contact our Support Team.

FAQs

Can I add my own actions to earn points?
No. The list of actions is fixed. You can change the points and daily limit for each one, but you can't add or remove actions.

What does a daily limit of 0 mean?
It means there's no daily cap on that action — the learner can earn points from it as many times as they trigger it in a day.

Will changing a point value update points people have already earned?
No. New values only apply to actions completed after you save. To have earlier points recalculated, contact our Support Team.

Why can't I see the configuration table?
The table only appears when Gamification is enabled. Turn on Enable gamification on your account first, then click show more under Gamification configuration.

Who can do this

Only Owners and Admins can configure points and daily limits. The Gamification settings live under Settings, and access to all Settings pages is restricted to Owners and Admins — Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users can't reach them, regardless of any other permission.
