Overview

Sometimes a Learning has been assigned to the wrong person, is no longer relevant, or a learner has moved on, and you want to take it off their plate. In SuperPath this action is called Delete — deleting a Learning from someone removes that assignment so it no longer appears in their My Learning. You can do this one person at a time from their profile, or several learners at once from a quick view report. It works for Library content (courses, documents), Pathways, Forms and Events.

Good to know: Deleting a Learning is a soft delete. The assignment stops showing for the learner, but the record is kept behind the scenes for your reporting and history — it is not permanently erased. Learners are not notified when you remove a Learning.

Delete a learning from a person's profile

Use this when you want to remove a Learning from a single person.

  1. Go to the People menu and select the user whose Learning you want to remove.

  1. On the user's detail page, open the Learning section, which lists everything assigned to them.

  1. Find the Learning you want to remove and click the three-dot menu (⋯) on its row.

  1. Select Delete and confirm the deletion.

  1. A success notification appears once the Learning has been removed, and it drops off the person's list.

Delete a learning from a quick view report

When you want to remove a Learning from one or more people, work from the Learning's own report (reached via View learners) rather than each profile. The steps differ slightly depending on the type of Learning.

Removing Library content from a user

  1. Go to the Content section.

  1. Open the Library and choose the specific piece of content you want to remove from the user.

  1. Click View learners.

  1. Search for the user whose Learning you want to remove.

  1. Click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to the user's name, select Delete and confirm the deletion.

Removing a Pathway, Form or Event from a user

  1. Go to the relevant menu — Pathways, Forms or Events — and find the Learning.

  1. Click View learners.

  1. Search for the user, then click the three-dot menu (⋯) next to their name.

  1. Select Delete and confirm the deletion.

Tip: To remove several learners at once from a report, tick the checkbox on each learner's row, then use Bulk Actions → Delete and confirm. SuperPath tells you how many assignments will be removed before you confirm.

Things to keep in mind

  • Deleting a Learning is a soft delete — it disappears from the learner's My Learning, but the record is kept for reporting and history.
  • The person keeps their account, profile and the rest of their learning history — only this one assignment is removed.
  • Each Learning is a separate row. A course, a Pathway, a Form and an Event are removed individually — removing one does not affect the others.
  • Deleting a Learning does not stop it being re-assigned later — you can assign it again at any time.
  • If the Learning was an Event synced to the learner's Google Calendar, the calendar entry is removed too.

FAQs

Is there an "unassign" button?
No. SuperPath calls this action Delete. Deleting a Learning from a person removes their assignment — it does not delete the person or the underlying content.

Does deleting a Learning delete the course or Pathway itself?
No. It only removes that one person's copy. The course, Pathway, Form or Event stays in your Library and remains assigned to everyone else.

Can I remove a Learning from lots of people at once?
Yes. Open the Learning's report via View learners, tick the people you want, then use Bulk Actions → Delete.

Why can't I remove a completed Learning?
Removing something a learner has already completed is restricted to Owners and Admins, to protect completion records. Ask an Owner or Admin if you need a completed Learning removed.

Who can do this

Owners and Admins can remove any learner's Learning, including completed ones. Managers, Content Managers, People Managers and Instructors can remove Learnings that are still in progress, subject to their own permissions (for example where they assigned the Learning or the learner is one of their direct reports). Only Owners and Admins see the Delete option on a Learning a person has already completed. Employees and Restricted users can only remove their own assignments.
