Overview

If a piece of content has a cost attached, you can record that on the content itself. The Cost setting lets you flag an item as requiring purchase and, once flagged, enter a Price and choose a Price currency. This keeps the commercial detail for a course or resource stored alongside it in your Library.

How to mark content as requiring purchase and set a price

  1. Open the content item from your Library and open the Edit content panel (the pencil icon on the right-hand toolbar).
  2. Find the Cost? section.
  3. Turn on the Requires purchase toggle.
  4. A Price field and a Price currency selector appear. Enter the price and choose the currency.
  5. Click Save changes to save.

Things to keep in mind

  • The Price and Price currency fields only appear once the Requires purchase toggle is on.
  • The Cost setting is only shown for content that belongs to your own account. It does not appear on content you have added from another provider's library (purchased content).
  • Both the price and the currency are optional even when Requires purchase is on.

FAQs

Where does the price I enter show?
The price and currency are recorded against the content and shown on its details page.

Why can't I see the Cost setting on some content?
It is hidden on purchased content added from another provider's library. You can only set it on content that belongs to your own account.

Who can do this

Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers and Instructors can edit Library content and its cost settings. People Managers, Employees and Restricted users cannot — they have read-only access to content.
