Overview

SuperPath lets you add video to your learning content in two ways: you can upload a video file directly, or you can embed a video that is already hosted somewhere else (for example on YouTube, Loom or Vimeo) by pasting its link. For large videos, embedding a hosted link is almost always the better choice — it avoids the upload size limit, uploads instantly, and keeps your video playing smoothly for learners.


Uploading a video file

You can upload a video as a standalone Library item, or drop one into a lesson or article using the content editor.


As a Library content item:

  1. Go to your Library.
  2. Click Add Content.
  3. Open Upload a file, then click Click to upload and choose your video (or drag and drop it into the box).
  4. Set the Content Type to Video, add a title, category and the other details.
  5. Click Upload to finish.



Inside a lesson or article (rich-text editor):

  1. In the content editor, add a Video block from the insert menu.
  2. In the Add Video window, choose Upload video.
  3. Click to upload your file and wait for it to finish, then save.



Tip: SuperPath recommends uploading video in MP4 format for the best playback experience. Other common formats such as MOV, WEBM and AVI are also accepted.


Video size limit and formats

The maximum size for any file you upload — including video — is 1.5 GB. If your file is larger, the uploader will stop it before it starts and show a "File is too large" message telling you the maximum size allowed.


Recommended and accepted video formats: MP4 is recommended; MOV, WEBM and AVI files are also supported. When adding a video inside the editor, a few additional formats (such as MKV and WMV) are accepted as well.


If your video is over the 1.5 GB limit — or you simply want it to load quickly and stream reliably — host it on a video service and embed the link rather than uploading the file. This is the recommended approach for large or high-resolution videos.


Embed a hosted video inside a lesson or article:

  1. In the content editor, add a Video block.
  2. In the Add Video window, choose Upload video URL.
  3. Paste the video's link into the Enter video url field and save.


Videos embedded this way can be hosted on YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Synthesia or Wistia.


Add a hosted video as a Library item:

  1. Go to your Library and click Add Content.
  2. Open Add a website link.
  3. Paste the link into the Type or paste the link to upload field and click Upload.


This is also how you add a video that lives in a tool like Google Drive — paste the shareable link rather than uploading the file.


Good to know: Hosting your video externally and embedding the link means there is no file size to worry about, the video is ready the moment you paste the link, and playback quality is handled by the video service.


Things to keep in mind

  • The 1.5 GB limit applies to the file you upload from your computer; it does not apply to videos you embed by link.
  • Uploaded files are only accessible to people within your organisation.
  • The list of supported video hosts for embedding is fixed (YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Synthesia and Wistia). If you need another provider, contact the SuperPath support team.


FAQs

What is the largest video I can upload?
Up to 1.5 GB. Anything larger is blocked by the uploader — host it externally and embed the link instead.


My video is bigger than 1.5 GB. What should I do?
Upload it to YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Synthesia or Wistia (or store it in Google Drive), then embed or link to it in SuperPath. There is no size limit on embedded videos.


Which format should I use?
MP4 is recommended for the smoothest playback. MOV, WEBM and AVI also work.


Can I embed a video from a service that isn't listed?
The supported hosts for embedded video are YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Synthesia and Wistia. If you use another provider, get in touch with SuperPath support.


Who can do this

Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers and Instructors can add and upload content to the Library. People Managers, Employees and Restricted users cannot.
