Overview

Learning Completion Notifications let you control exactly who gets notified when a learner completes assigned content or a Learning Pathway. Previously, only the person who assigned the Learning received a completion notification. That worked well for smaller teams, but as organisations grow it becomes important to keep additional stakeholders informed — managers, instructors, or compliance teams. This feature gives you that flexibility, so the right people stay informed at the right time.

You can configure completion notifications in two places:

1. Individual content assignments (courses, documents, Forms, Events)
2. Learning Pathways

Setting notifications for individual assignments

1. Navigate to the content you want to assign (for example a course, document, Form or Event).
2. Click Assign to others.
3. Select the learners or Team.
4. Click Advanced.
5. Find the Notify on Completion section.
6. Choose who should be notified:
7. • Notify manager on completion — the learner's manager
   • Choose specific people to notify — named stakeholders, instructors or others
7. Complete the assignment as usual.

Once the learner completes the content, the selected recipients receive both an email notification and an in-app notification.

Setting notifications for Learning Pathways

1. Open the Learning Pathway.
2. Go to Pathway Settings.
3. Find the Notify on Completion section.
4. Choose who should be notified:
5. • Notify manager on completion — the learner's manager
   • Choose specific people to notify — any named users
5. Republish the Pathway.
6. Assign the Pathway to learners.

Note: These notification settings apply to all future assignments of the Pathway once it's republished.

Example use cases

• Notify a compliance officer when mandatory training is completed.
• Alert an instructor when learners finish a workshop.
• Keep team managers updated on onboarding progress.
• Inform HR or L&D leaders of certification completions.

Things to keep in mind

• Recipients are notified both by email and in-app.
• For Pathways, the settings only take effect once you republish, and apply to future assignments.
• Anyone chosen as a recipient will be notified regardless of their role.

Who can do this

Completion notifications are configured when you assign content or when you edit a Pathway, so they follow the same permissions as those actions. Owners, Admins, Managers, People Managers and Instructors can set them when assigning content. Setting them in Pathway Settings is available to Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers and Instructors. Employees and Restricted users cannot configure completion notifications.
