Overview

Most skills are recorded automatically when a person completes learning that has skills attached. Sometimes, though, you want to record a skill directly — for example a capability someone gained outside SuperPath. You can add a skill to a person from their profile in the People area, choosing any skill from your account's catalogue.

How to add a skill to a person

  1. Go to People and open the person's profile.
  2. Scroll to the Skills section.
  3. In the Search to add a skill box, start typing a skill name and select the skill (with the level you want, if it has levels) from the suggestions.
  4. The skill is added to the person straight away and appears in their Skills list.

Tip: If the skill you need doesn't exist yet, use the add new skill button next to the search box to create it, then add it to the person.

Things to keep in mind

  • You add skills to a person from their profile in the People area. The Skills section on your own profile is view-only — you cannot add or remove your own skills there.
  • If the person already has that skill from completing learning, adding it again increases the count SuperPath keeps for that skill rather than creating a duplicate.
  • Adding a skill directly does not link it to any learning — it simply records the skill against the person.

FAQs

Can I add a skill to myself from my profile?
No. The Skills section on your own profile shows the skills you've earned but does not let you add or remove them.

What if the skill isn't in the list?
Create it first using the add new skill button beside the search box (or in the Skills catalogue), then add it to the person.

Does the person get notified?
Adding a skill records it against the person's profile; this article does not cover notifications.

Who can do this

Adding a skill to a person is limited to Owners and Admins — they are the roles that see the add-skill control on a person's profile in the People area. Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users do not see this control.
