Overview

You can remove a skill that has been recorded against a person — for example if it was added in error. This is done from the person's profile in the People area, and removes the skill from that person only; it does not delete the skill from your account's catalogue.

How to remove a skill from a person

1. Go to People and open the person's profile.
2. Scroll to the Skills section and hover over the skill you want to remove — a panel shows each level the person holds for that skill.
3. Click the trash icon next to the level you want to remove.
4. In the Delete skill dialog, review the message: "Are you sure you want to delete this skill?" If the person earned the skill by completing learning, you'll also see a note explaining that.
5. Click Confirm delete.

Things to keep in mind

• Removing a skill here affects only this person — the skill stays in your account's Skills catalogue and on anyone else who has it.
• If the person earned the same skill more than once (for example by completing several learnings), removing it reduces the recorded count by one rather than clearing it entirely.
• The Skills section on your own profile is view-only — you cannot remove your own skills there.

FAQs

Does this delete the skill for everyone?
No. It only removes the skill from this person. To delete the skill from your whole account, see "How to Delete a Skill".

What does the note about completing a learning mean?
If the person acquired the skill by completing a learning that had the skill attached, SuperPath flags this in the confirmation so you know the skill wasn't added manually.

Why is there no trash icon on my own profile?
The Skills section on your own profile is view-only — removing skills is done from a person's profile in the People area.

Who can do this

Removing a skill from a person is limited to Owners and Admins — they are the roles that see the remove control on a person's profile in the People area. Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users do not see this control.
