Overview
Deactivating (disabling) a person stops them signing in to SuperPath while keeping all of their data — learnings, badges, certificates, roadmaps and history. It's the safe, reversible alternative to deleting someone: you can re-enable them at any time. Use it when someone leaves, changes role, or no longer needs access but you want to keep their records. To deactivate several people at once, see the How to Bulk Deactivate People article.

How to deactivate a person
- Go to People and open the profile of the person you want to deactivate.
- Click Disable account.
- Read the confirmation — it explains that the person will no longer be able to access the platform, and that their information is kept and can be re-enabled at any time.
- Click Disable to confirm.

The person's status changes to disabled and they can no longer sign in. You can reactivate their account whenever you need to — see the How to Reactivate a Person article.
Tip: By default the People list shows active people only. Use the Status filter to review who is currently active or disabled.
Things to keep in mind
- Deactivating is fully reversible — a disabled person keeps all their data and can be re-enabled at any time. See the How to Reactivate a Person article.
- Deactivating is not the same as deleting. Deleting permanently removes the person and their learning history and can't be undone — see the How to Delete a Person article.
- A disabled person still counts towards your used licence seats until they're deleted.
- You can't deactivate your own account from this screen.
FAQs
What's the difference between deactivating and deleting?
Deactivating (disabling) blocks sign-in but keeps the person and all their data, and can be undone at any time. Deleting permanently removes the person and their learning records and frees their licence seat. See the How to Delete a Person article.
Can I bring a deactivated person back?
Yes — deactivating never removes data. Reactivate them and everything is exactly as they left it. See the How to Reactivate a Person article.
Does deactivating free up a licence seat?
No. A disabled person still counts towards your seats until they are deleted.
How do I deactivate lots of people at once?
Use the bulk action on the People list — see the How to Bulk Deactivate People article.
Who can do this
Owners and Admins can deactivate any person. Managers and People Managers can deactivate people who report to them. Content Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users cannot deactivate other people. No one can deactivate their own account from this screen.
