Overview

Use Teams for Managers changes how SuperPath decides who a person's Manager is. With it switched on, the managers of a Team become the managers of the people in that Team — so you manage reporting lines through Team membership rather than by setting a direct Manager on every individual. It is recommended when it isn't practical to set and maintain the direct manager of each person. The setting lives in the People section of your feature settings.

How to turn on Use Teams for Managers

1. Go to Settings → Features.
2. Find the People section.
3. Turn on Use Teams for Managers.
4. An Unsaved changes bar appears at the top of the screen. Click Save to apply your change.

Things to keep in mind

• With this on, a person's Manager is derived from the managers of the Teams they belong to, rather than from a direct manager set on their profile.
• It is recommended where maintaining a direct manager for every individual isn't practical.
• After turning the switch on, click Save in the Unsaved changes bar for the change to take effect.

FAQs

What does this setting actually change?
It makes the managers of a Team act as the managers of the people in that Team, instead of relying on a direct Manager set against each individual.

Who can do this

Only Owners and Admins can change feature settings. The Settings area is restricted to these two roles, and saving a change to Features requires the tenant-settings update permission, which only Owners and Admins hold. Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users cannot open Settings or change this toggle.
