Learning Completion Notifications

Learning Completion Notifications

Overview

The Learning Completion Notification feature allows you to control exactly who gets notified when a learner completes assigned content or a learning pathway.

Previously, only the person who assigned the learning would receive completion notifications. This worked well for smaller teams, but as organisations grow, it becomes important to notify additional stakeholders such as managers, instructors, or compliance teams.

This feature gives you that flexibility.

Why use Learning Completion Notifications?

  • Keep managers informed of their team’s progress
  • Support compliance requirements by notifying regulators or auditors
  • Improve visibility for instructors or stakeholders
  • Scale your learning operations without losing oversight

Where can you configure notifications?

You can set completion notifications in two places:

  1. Individual content assignments (courses, documents, forms, events)
  2. Learning pathways

Setting notifications for individual assignments

Step-by-step

  1. Navigate to the content you want to assign (e.g. course, document, form, or event)
  2. Click Assign
  3. Select the learners or team
  4. Expand the Advanced section
  5. Locate Notify on completion
  6. Choose who should be notified:
    • The learner’s manager
    • Specific people (e.g. stakeholders, instructors)
  1. Complete the assignment as usual

What happens next?

Once the learner completes the content:

  • Selected recipients will receive:
    • 📧 Email notifications
    • 🔔 In-app notifications

Setting notifications for learning pathways

Step-by-step

  1. Open the desired Learning Pathway
  2. Click into Pathway Settings
  3. Find the Notify on completion section
  4. Select:
    • The learner’s manager
    • Any specific users
  1. Click Republish the pathway
  2. Assign the pathway to learners

Important note

These notification settings are applied to all future assignments of the pathway once republished.

Example use cases

  • Notify a compliance officer when mandatory training is completed
  • Alert an instructor when learners finish a workshop
  • Keep team managers updated on onboarding progress
  • Inform HR or L&D leaders of certification completions

Summary

Learning Completion Notifications ensure the right people stay informed at the right time — helping you maintain oversight, meet compliance needs, and improve learning outcomes across your organisation.
