Learning Requests
Learning Requests: Overview
Learning Requests allows organisations to control how employees access learning in SuperPath by requiring approval before certain learning items are assigned. This feature is ideal when learning needs oversight — such as paid courses, limited-capacity events, or compliance-driven pathways.
Why use Learning Requests?
Learning Requests helps you:
- Prevent uncontrolled self-assignment
- Manage costs for external learning
- Limit attendance for events
- Involve managers in learning decisions
- Maintain flexibility while keeping governance
Before you start
To use Learning Requests:
- Self-Service learning must be enabled
- Learning items must be available in the Library
If Self-Service is turned off, Learning Requests cannot be activated.
Step 1: Enable Learning Requests
- Go to Settings
- Select Library
- Toggle Enable Learning Requests

Step 2: Configure learning items to require approval
Learning Requests can be enabled for:
- Events
- Courses (including external content)
- Pathways

Step 3: Learner experience
When approval is required:
- Learners see Request learning instead of self-assign
- Submitting a request sends an email to:
- The selected approvers
- The learner’s manager (if configured)

Step 4: Approving or declining requests
Where to find requests
Approvers will see:
- A Learning Requests notification in the top navigation

What managers see vs admins
- Managers only see requests from their direct reports
- Admins see all requests they are assigned to approve
Summary
Learning Requests gives you structured control over learning access while still empowering employees to explore learning opportunities.
It’s the perfect balance between self-service learning and organisational oversight.
