Overview
As a moderator you can remove any comment in a Discussion, not just your own. Deleting replaces the comment with a "[deleted comment]" placeholder so the thread structure stays intact and replies don't orphan. The original text is preserved for moderators, who can still reveal it if needed.

How to delete a comment
- Open the Discussion at /discussions/.
- Find the comment you want to remove.
- Click the ⋯ (kebab) menu at the top-right of that comment.
- Click Delete.

You'll see a "Comment deleted" confirmation and the comment is replaced with the "[deleted comment]" placeholder straight away.
Note: Deleting a comment happens immediately when you click Delete — there's no separate confirmation dialog, so double-check you've picked the right comment.
What happens when you delete a comment
- Ordinary readers see [deleted comment] in place of the original text.
- As a moderator you'll also see a See original link on the deleted comment, which reveals the original text (and Hide original to collapse it again).
- Any replies beneath the deleted comment stay in place, so the conversation still reads sensibly.
Hide vs delete
- Hide masks the comment from ordinary readers but keeps it fully intact, and can be toggled back on. Use it when a comment might be reinstated. See How to hide a comment.
- Delete replaces the comment with the "[deleted comment]" placeholder for everyone. Use it to take content down for good, while retaining the original for moderator review.
Things to keep in mind
- People can always delete their own comments regardless of role — this article covers deleting other people's comments, which is a moderator action.
- Moderation actions are only available while the Discussion is Active. Once a Discussion is Archived it's read-only and the comment menu (including Delete) is hidden until it's unarchived.
FAQs
Is there a confirmation before a comment is deleted?
No. Clicking Delete removes the comment immediately. The ⋯ menu on a comment you don't want to touch should simply be left closed.
Can the deleted text be recovered?
Moderators can still view the original via the See original link on the deleted comment. There's no self-service "restore" that puts it back for ordinary readers — if you need that, hiding rather than deleting is the safer choice.
Can a Manager delete another person's comment?
The delete control for other people's comments is surfaced in the app only to Owners and Admins. Managers and Content Managers don't see it.
Who can do this
Owners and Admins can delete any comment in a Discussion. Any user can delete their own comment. Deleting someone else's comment is surfaced in the app only to Owners and Admins — Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users don't see the Delete option on comments that aren't theirs. Deletion is only available while the Discussion is Active.
