Overview
If you no longer want a comment or reply to appear in a discussion, you can delete it. Deleting removes your words from view while keeping the shape of the thread intact for anyone who was following along.
How to delete your comment
- Find your comment or reply in the discussion.
- Click the ⋮ (more options) menu in the top-right corner of the comment.
- Choose Delete. The comment is removed straight away and you'll see a Comment deleted confirmation.
Note: Deleting takes effect immediately — there's no separate confirmation prompt, so only click Delete when you're sure.
Things to keep in mind
- A deleted comment is replaced by a [deleted comment] placeholder rather than vanishing entirely, so replies beneath it still make sense.
- You can only delete your own comments. The Delete option doesn't appear on other people's comments.
- Deleting is only available while the discussion is active — once it's closed or archived, comments become read-only.
- If your comment had replies, the replies stay in place; only your comment's content is removed.
FAQs
Can I undo a deletion?
No — deleting is immediate and can't be reversed from the discussion. If you might want the text later, copy it before deleting.
What do other people see after I delete?
A [deleted comment] placeholder where your comment used to be. Your name and words are no longer shown.
Can I delete someone else's comment?
No. You can only delete comments you posted yourself. Removing other people's comments is a moderation action handled separately.
Who can do this
Anyone can delete their own comments and replies — this applies to every role: Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users. Deleting other people's comments is a moderation action and is not covered here.
