Overview
Some discussions include a Poll — a quick question with a set of options that everyone in the discussion can vote on. Casting your vote adds to the running tally shown against each option, so you can see at a glance what the group thinks. This article covers casting, changing and resetting your vote.

How to cast your vote
- Open the discussion from the Discussions hub and find the Poll card, just below the opening statement.
- Choose your option. A single-choice poll shows a circle next to each option, so selecting a new one replaces your previous choice. A multiple-choice poll shows a square you can tick against as many options as you like.
- Click Submit vote.
Once your vote is recorded, the options lock and each row shows its share of the total as a percentage and a vote count.

How to change your vote
- On a poll you have already voted in, click Reset.
- The options unlock so you can make a new selection.
- Choose your new option (or, on a multiple-choice poll, adjust which options are ticked) and click Submit vote again.
Note: Submit vote only becomes available once your selection differs from what you last submitted, so re-submitting an unchanged choice does nothing.
Things to keep in mind
- You can only vote while the poll is open and the discussion is active. A closed poll (or one that has passed its scheduled close time) shows a Closed badge and no longer accepts votes.
- An archived discussion is read-only, so its poll cannot be voted on.
- On a single-choice poll, voting for a different option replaces your earlier vote rather than adding a second one.
FAQs
Can I remove my vote entirely?
Voting is designed for changing your choice rather than clearing it. Use Reset to unlock the options and pick a different one, then Submit vote.
Why can't I see the Submit vote button?
It only appears while the poll is open and the discussion is active. If the poll shows a Closed badge, voting has ended.
Can other people see how I voted?
The poll shows the total votes and each option's share. It does not display a per-person breakdown of who chose what.
Who can do this
Anyone who can open a discussion can vote in its poll — this includes Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users. Voting is blocked only when the poll is closed or the discussion is archived, not by role.
