Overview
Ask the AI Assistant to set up your branding and it reads your organisation's own public website, then puts everything it found on one card for you to pick from. You choose the parts you want, it prepares them as a single change, and nothing is applied until you confirm it.
There are six settings it can propose: your Logo, your Browser icon, your Login page image, your Primary colour, your Dashboard banner image and the banner's Text colour. Choosing a colour also paints the dashboard welcome banner in it, gives the banner a heading, and switches the banner on if it was off.
The assistant never invents a logo, an icon, a picture or a colour. Every value it offers came either from your website or from you, and a value that claims to have come from your site is checked against a fresh read of that site before anything is prepared. If it cannot find something, it says so and leaves what you already have alone.
You can do all of this by hand on the Theme settings tab at any time, before or after. See What Can I Change in Themes? for the full tour of that page. For how confirming and undoing work in general across the assistant, see How the AI Assistant Makes Changes.
How to start it
- Open the AI Assistant with Ask AI at the top of any screen, or ⌘ + K (Mac) / Ctrl + K (Windows). See How to Use the AI Assistant.
- Ask in plain English. "Set up our branding", "Make the platform look like our company" and "Refresh our theme from our website" all work.
- The assistant asks which website to read. It offers the address your own email address suggests as the first option, and you can pick that or give it a different one.
- Choose or type the address, and it reads that site.
It always asks, even when the suggested address looks obviously right, because you may want the branding of a company other than the one your email belongs to. If your email is a personal mailbox, or your profile has no email address on it, it asks you to type the address yourself with nothing pre-selected. It will not guess an address for you.

What the assistant reads, and where from
It reads the public web page at the address you confirmed, following any redirects, and takes four things off it:
- Marks that could be your logo. Every image on the page that could be a brand mark, ranked best first. The ranking is a best guess rather than a certainty, so the last candidate in the list is sometimes somebody else's logo from a "Trusted by" strip. It is offered rather than dropped, because a candidate you can ignore is better than a logo the platform tells you it could not find.
- Square icons. Touch icons, icons declared in the site's manifest, and favicons, largest first.
- Landscape pictures that could serve as your login page image.
- Colours. The colour the page declares for browser chrome, then colours declared as CSS variables, then the colours in the logo itself.
Nothing is read off a website for the dashboard banner picture, because no website publishes a picture in that shape. That row takes only an image you supply or one you ask the platform to create.
The confirm card that comes later carries a quiet footnote saying which address the look was read from, so the provenance of every value stays visible right up to the moment you approve it.
If the read does not work out, you get a plain answer and a way forward rather than a made-up brand:
- The address is not one the platform can read, for example an internal name or an IP address. It asks for your company's public website instead, and it never falls back to the address your email suggests.
- The site could not be loaded at all.
- The site was read but held no logo, icon or colour it could use.
- The site does point at pictures, but at web addresses this platform is not allowed to fetch.
In each case you can give it another address to try, or set your branding yourself on the Theme tab.
Choosing your look
When the read succeeds you get a card headed What I found on your website, with one row per setting:
- Logo
- Browser icon
- Login page image
- Primary colour
- Dashboard banner image
- The banner's Text colour, drawn on a live preview of the banner itself

Every row is a strip of tiles, in the same order everywhere, so each row reads as one question with several answers:
- Keep what I have now, always first. This is the answer that changes nothing.
- Upload an image, on the rows that take one, or Select your own on the colour row.
- Generate with AI, on the two rows that offer it.
- Then up to three of the things found on your website, best first.
Click a tile to choose it, and a tick appears. Where a tile has a picture on it, an eye icon opens A closer look, so you can judge a logo properly rather than from a thumbnail. Opening that dialog changes nothing about your choices. Where a row found nothing on your site, a line under the strip says so and names the way forward for that row.
The banner row at the bottom is a live preview rather than a set of options. Choose a Primary colour and the welcome banner is painted in it, with the heading Welcome to your platform name and a Text colour control you can set yourself. The heading colour is plain white unless you pick another one. If you do not choose a colour at all, no banner is proposed, and the card says so in one line.
When you are happy, click Use these. Nothing has been changed at this point: the card is gathering your answers, and the assistant then prepares them as a single change for you to confirm.
Note: Your picks live only on the card until you click Use these. Reloading the page part way through brings the card back with nothing ticked, because there is no half-made choice stored anywhere. Any file you uploaded is still in your library to pick again.
You can also collapse the card with Hide these options, or close it with Close these options if you would rather not choose anything. Picking nothing and clicking Use these is a legitimate answer too, and the assistant simply tells you nothing was picked and offers to show you the options again.
Supplying an image of your own
Three rows take an image you supply instead of one from your website: Logo, Login page image and Dashboard banner image. The tile opens SuperPath's own image picker, so you get the four ways you already know: upload a file, choose from Unsplash, choose from your asset library, or use a Canva design.
The Browser icon row deliberately does not offer this. The Theme tab takes a favicon as an .ico, .svg or .png under 50KB, which is a file rule this card cannot check, so keep the icon you have and upload the one you want on the Theme tab instead. See Uploading a Logo and Icon.
On the colour row, Select your own opens a colour picker. A colour you choose yourself is stored exactly as you chose it, with no adjustment and no readability check, because it is your brand colour rather than something read off a page.
Images you supply are labelled as yours on the confirm card that follows, with the words "an image you chose yourself" rather than "found on" your website. The provenance footnote is qualified in the same way, so the card can never claim your website carried a picture it did not.
Having a picture created for you
Two rows carry a Generate with AI tile: Login page image and Dashboard banner image.
- Choose your Primary colour first if you can. It is used to make a picture that matches the rest of your look.
- Click Generate with AI on the row you want.
- Wait. It can take a minute or two, and you can keep choosing on the other rows while it works.
- The new picture joins that row as a tile marked Created by AI, already ticked. Use the eye icon to see it properly, and click another tile if you would rather not use it.
Generation is a button rather than something that happens while your website is being read, so the rest of the flow stays fast. The Logo and Browser icon rows never offer it: a wordmark is your company's name, which is the thing image models get worst and the thing nothing here could check.
A generated banner picture is stretched across the full width of the banner rather than cropped, so nothing in it is cut off. The banner is a wide, shallow strip, so a picture that is not wide, soft and abstract will look squashed. Both the picker card and the confirm card say so, and the preview distorts the picture exactly as the dashboard will.
Note: Creating pictures needs AI generation to be switched on for your account, and there is a limit of 20 generated images a day across your whole organisation, resetting at midnight UTC. If you reach it, or if generation is switched off, the assistant tells you and you can supply a picture of your own instead. See Managing AI Features.
What "left as it is" means
Choosing Keep what I have now on a row leaves that setting completely untouched. The assistant does not send that field at all, so nothing is written to it, and it does not appear on the confirm card. A row you never answered is treated exactly the same way.
Nothing is ever cleared by this flow. A proposal will not overwrite something you already have with nothing, so there is no way to use the assistant to remove your logo, your login picture or your banner image. Do that on the Theme tab.
Two rows word the keep tile differently, because keeping is not quite what they do:
- On the Dashboard banner image row, when there is no banner picture yet, the tile reads Just the colour, no picture. That is the common answer, and it gives you a banner painted in your colour with a heading on it.
- On the banner's Text colour row, the tile reads Use the default heading colour, which is plain white. The banner heading colour is rewritten along with the rest of the banner whatever you choose, so keeping the stored value is not something this change can honour.
There is one case where a row you chose is dropped rather than applied. If your dashboard banner already has a picture on it and you did not pick a new one, the whole banner half of the proposal is left alone and the card says so, because a colour sitting behind an opaque picture would not be visible.
Confirming the new look
What arrives next is a confirmation card headed Brand proposal. It shows:
- A one-line summary naming your company, the website the look was read from, and how many settings will change.
- A before → after row for every setting, including Dashboard banner: off → on where the banner is being switched on.
- Previews of what you picked: the logo, the browser icon, the colour with its hex value, the banner painted as the dashboard will paint it, and the login page picture with a Your choice tag.
- Anything worth knowing before you approve it. Changing the Logo also updates the logo shown on every Pathway in your account, which happens in the background and takes a little while. Switching the banner on changes what everybody sees on their dashboard rather than only how it looks.
- Any honest gaps. No logo found on your website, so your current one is left alone. Your banner already has a picture, so the banner is left as it is. A setting that already matches what was found, so it is left alone and dropped from the change.
- The provenance footnote, and a link to change any of this on the Theme tab.

Click Confirm to apply it, or Cancel to walk away with nothing changed. The preview expires an hour after it was prepared, and the card counts that down. If it does expire, just ask the assistant to prepare it again so you review a fresh read of your site.
This card is a review, not an editor. Every choice on it was made by you on the picker card one step earlier, and what executes is exactly what you approved. If you want something different, cancel and either pick again or set it by hand on the Theme tab.
Only the person who prepared the change can confirm it. Once it is applied you get a receipt saying how many settings were updated, and the change is recorded in your account's history exactly as it would be if an Admin had made it on the settings page. It also appears in the Activity log, covered in The AI Assistant Activity Log.
Undoing back to your previous look
A confirmed branding change can be undone for 7 days, from the Undo button on the receipt or in the Activity log. Undoing writes your previous values back through the same path the change came in on, so the Pathway logos are updated back too, again in the background.
Two honest limits are worth knowing.
A setting whose previous value was not recorded cannot be put back. For the text settings this never bites, because an empty setting is recorded as empty and restored to empty. It can happen with the on/off part of the banner: on an account where Dashboard banner had never been set either way, there is no earlier value to restore, so that one row is named as left alone and the summary says the restore was partial rather than reporting a clean undo. Everything else still goes back, and you can set the remaining row yourself on the Theme tab.
If none of the previous values were recorded, the undo does not run at all and the assistant tells you plainly that the earlier look cannot be put back automatically, and points you at the Theme tab.
Undo is available to the person who prepared the change and to any Owner or Admin in your account.
Good to know: Undoing puts the settings back. Anything you uploaded or had created stays in your image library, so you can pick it again later without regenerating or re-uploading it.
Things to keep in mind
- The assistant never invents a logo, an icon, a picture or a colour. A value that claims to come from your website is checked against a fresh read of that site before anything is prepared, so an address your site has removed since you picked it is refused rather than applied.
- If your website changes between the card and your answer, you are told that something you picked is no longer there, and nothing is prepared. Ask it to read your site again.
- Nothing is applied until you confirm it, and the preview expires after an hour.
- The picker shows the best three candidates per row. Your site may have offered more, and the ranking is a best guess.
- Nothing is ever cleared. Removing a logo, an icon, a login picture or a banner picture is a job for the Theme tab.
- A colour you choose is stored exactly as you chose it. On a pale banner colour the default white heading will be hard to read, so use the Text colour control on the card, where you can see the heading on the banner while you pick.
- A banner picture is stretched rather than cropped, so wide, soft, abstract pictures work best.
- Creating pictures with AI needs AI generation switched on for your account, and is capped at 20 images a day for the whole organisation.
- Changing the Logo rewrites the logo on every Pathway in the account, in the background, in both directions.
- Only the person who prepared a change can confirm it. Undo is open to them and to any Owner or Admin.
- Every change is written through the platform's own settings service, so it is validated and historied exactly like a change made by hand.
FAQs
Does the assistant change my branding as soon as it reads my website?
No. Reading your site only produces a card of options. You pick what you want, and then a confirmation card, and nothing is applied until you click Confirm on it.
Can it make up a logo or a colour for my company?
No. Every value it offers is either read from the website you named or supplied by you, and it will not describe or apply a logo or colour it was not given. If your site holds nothing it can use, it tells you and leaves your current settings alone.
Can I use a different company's website?
Yes. It suggests the address your email address implies, but you can answer with any public website address and it reads that one instead.
What if I only want to change one thing?
Choose Keep what I have now on every other row. A kept row is left completely untouched and does not appear on the confirmation card.
Can it remove my logo or my banner picture?
No. A proposal never overwrites something you have with nothing. Remove an image on the Theme settings tab.
Why is there no Generate with AI button on the logo row?
A logo is usually your company's name set as a wordmark, which is exactly what AI image generation does worst, and nothing here could check the result. Upload the logo you want instead, or keep the one you have.
Why was my banner left alone when I chose a colour?
Because your dashboard banner already has a picture on it, and a colour behind an opaque picture would not be visible. Pick a new banner picture on the card if you are rebuilding the banner, or change the banner yourself on the Theme tab.
Why does the banner picture look squashed?
The dashboard banner is a wide, shallow strip, and pictures are stretched to fill it rather than cropped so that nothing is cut off. Wide, soft, abstract pictures hold up best. You can change or remove it on the Theme tab.
Can I undo it?
Yes, for 7 days. Undoing puts your previous values back, including the logo on every Pathway. A setting that had no previously recorded value cannot be put back, and the undo names it rather than pretending otherwise.
Where do I change any of this by hand?
The Theme settings tab. See What Can I Change in Themes?, Uploading a Logo and Icon, How to Set Your Brand's Primary Colour, Custom Login Pages and How to Change Them and Updating the Dashboard Banner.
Who can do this
Changing branding with the AI Assistant is limited to Owners and Admins, and this is stricter than access to the assistant itself. Who can open the assistant depends on your organisation's Who can use the AI Assistant setting, which can extend it to Managers and People Managers, but the branding flow is never offered to them: applying it needs the tenant-settings update permission, which only Owners and Admins hold, so a Manager could only ever be walked to a card that failed on them. Content Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users cannot use the AI Assistant at all.
Creating a picture with Generate with AI is limited to the same two roles, and needs AI generation switched on for your account. See Managing AI Features.
Confirming a prepared change is limited to the person who prepared it. Undoing one is open to that person and to any Owner or Admin in the account. Setting any of these values by hand on the Theme settings tab is also Owner and Admin only, because the Settings area is restricted to those two roles.
