Overview
If a comment breaks the rules or doesn't belong in a discussion, you can flag it for review. Flagging quietly alerts the people who can moderate the discussion — and if enough people flag the same comment, it's removed automatically.
How to report (flag) a comment
- Find the comment or reply you want to report.
- Click the ⋮ (more options) menu in the top-right corner of the comment.
- Choose Flag. A Flag comment window opens.
- Optionally add a reason — the box explains "Optional. Tell moderators why this comment should be reviewed." You can leave it blank.
- Click Flag comment to submit. You'll see a Comment flagged confirmation.
What happens after you flag
- Your flag is sent to the discussion's owner and your organisation's administrators for review. The comment stays visible for now.
- If a comment collects three separate flags from different people, it's removed automatically.
- Reporting is anonymous to the comment's author — they aren't told who flagged their comment.
Things to keep in mind
- You can flag a comment once. If you try to flag the same comment again, you'll be told "You have already flagged this comment" — a second attempt doesn't count twice toward removal.
- You can't flag your own comment. If you want to remove something you posted, edit or delete it instead.
- You can only flag comments while the discussion is active.
- A removed comment isn't gone forever — moderators can still see it and can restore it if the flag was a mistake.
FAQs
Does the person know I flagged their comment?
No. Flagging is anonymous to the comment's author; only moderators are notified that a comment needs review.
What happens when I flag a comment?
Nothing changes for other readers right away. The discussion owner and your administrators are notified, and the comment is removed automatically once three different people have flagged it.
Can I flag the same comment twice?
No. Each person can flag a comment once. A repeat attempt shows a message that you've already flagged it and doesn't affect the count.
Why can't I flag my own comment?
You don't need to — you can edit or delete your own comments directly. Flagging is for reporting other people's comments.
Who can do this
The Flag option appears to people who want to report someone else's comment — Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users can flag comments they can see. You can't flag your own comment. Owners and Admins don't see a Flag option because they moderate discussions directly (hiding or removing comments), and an Owner or Admin who removes a comment does so immediately rather than through the flag threshold.
