Overview
When voting is turned on, each comment shows an upvote and a downvote button with a running tally. Voting lets your people surface the most helpful contributions, and lets everyone sort the conversation by what's been upvoted most.
How to vote on a comment
- Open a discussion that has voting enabled. Each comment shows an Upvote (arrow up) and a Downvote (arrow down) button with counts.
- Click Upvote or Downvote to cast your vote. Your choice is highlighted and the count updates.
- To change your mind, click the opposite arrow — your vote switches. To remove your vote entirely, click the same arrow again.

Tip: With voting on, you can sort the Comments section between Earliest and Most upvoted using the toggle at the top of the list.
Things to keep in mind
- Voting buttons only appear when your organisation has enabled voting and the individual discussion has voting switched on. If you don't see them, one of those settings is off for this discussion.
- You have one vote per comment: up, down, or none. You can switch between them or clear your vote at any time.
- The counts reflect everyone's votes on that comment, not just yours.
FAQs
Why don't I see any voting buttons?
Voting has to be enabled both for your organisation and for the specific discussion. If either is off, comments won't show vote buttons.
Can I upvote and downvote the same comment?
No. Each comment takes a single vote from you — choosing one clears the other. Clicking your current vote again removes it.
Who turns voting on?
Voting is controlled by your organisation's settings and by the discussion's own configuration, both of which are set by an administrator or the discussion's creator.
Who can do this
Anyone who can see a discussion with voting enabled can vote on its comments — Owners, Admins, Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users. Whether voting is available at all is controlled by your organisation's settings and the discussion's own voting option.
