Overview

An announcement can feature a video instead of a static banner image — useful for a welcome message, a leadership update or a short walkthrough. When you add a video, learners see it as a playable tile on their dashboard.

How to add a video to an announcement

  1. Go to Settings → Features and, under the Dashboard section, open Manage announcements.
  2. Click Create announcement, or open an existing one with the Edit (pencil) icon.
  3. Enter a Title and Description.
  4. Paste your video link into the Video URL field.
  5. Click Create (or Save).

Supported video providers

Currently, videos from YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Synthesia and Wistia are supported. Paste the video's URL from one of these providers into the Video URL field.

Things to keep in mind

  • When a video is set, the announcement's image is not displayed — the video takes its place on the dashboard.
  • An announcement needs a title, a description, and either a video or an image before you can save it.
  • On the dashboard, the video appears as a tile with a play control; learners click it to watch.

FAQs

Which video services can I use?
YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, Synthesia and Wistia.

Can I have both a video and an image?
You can fill in both fields, but when a video URL is set the image won't be shown — the video is used instead.

Do I still need a title and description?
Yes — a title and description are always required, along with either a video or an image.

Who can do this

Owners and Admins can add a video to an announcement. Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users cannot.
