Overview

Announcements appear on your learners' dashboards the moment they log in, so they're an effective way to make sure critical updates and key information are seen front and centre. This article walks through turning the feature on and creating your first announcement.

How to add an announcement

1. Go to Settings → Features and scroll down to the Dashboard section.

2. Turn on Enable dashboard announcements so announcements can appear on your users' dashboards.

3. Click Manage announcements to open the announcements list, then click Create announcement.

4. Fill in the Create Announcement window and click Create.

What you can include

The Create Announcement window lets you set:

• Title and Description — both required.
• Display Order — an optional number that controls where the announcement sits on the dashboard (see How to Reorder Announcements).
• Restrict to Teams — optionally limit the announcement to specific teams (see How to Add an Announcement for Specific Teams).
• Image — an optional banner image.
• Button Link and Button Text — an optional call-to-action button (see How to Add a Call-to-Action Button to an Announcement).
• Video URL — an optional video (see How to Add a Video Announcement).

Things to keep in mind

• Create stays disabled until the announcement has a title, a description, and either an image or a video.
• When a video URL is set, the image is not shown on the dashboard — the video takes its place.
• Announcements only appear once Enable dashboard announcements is turned on, and the dashboard itself is enabled for your platform.
• New announcements appear on learners' dashboards the next time they load them.

FAQs

Where do I manage announcements?
Under Settings → Features, in the Dashboard section, via Manage announcements.

Why can't I click Create?
An announcement needs a title, a description, and either an image or a video. Fill in whichever is missing.

Can I limit who sees an announcement?
Yes — use Restrict to Teams in the window to target specific teams. See How to Add an Announcement for Specific Teams.

How do I remove an announcement later?
Disable it to hide it temporarily, or delete it to remove it altogether. See How to Disable or Delete an Announcement.

Who can do this

Owners and Admins can add announcements. Managers, Content Managers, People Managers, Instructors, Employees and Restricted users cannot.
