Overview
Every figure on the Engagement Dashboard is measured over a period you choose, and compared with the period immediately before it. Changing the range changes the whole page at once: the headline cards, the trend charts, the funnel and the top content list all reload together, so nothing on screen is ever measuring a different window from anything else.
How to use a preset range
- Open the Engagement tab of your Company Dashboard or Team Dashboard.
- In the control above the context strip, click 7D, 30D, 3M or 12M.
The dashboard opens on 30D. Each preset counts back from today inclusive, so 30D means the last 30 days including today, and 12M means the last 366 days.

How to set a custom range
- Click Custom in the range control.
- Two date pickers open beside the button. Choose a Start date and an End date.
- Click Apply.
The dashboard reloads for your dates and the context strip updates to match. Click a preset at any time to go back to a fixed window.

Tip: Use a custom range to line the dashboard up with something real, such as a campaign, a compliance window or a financial quarter, rather than a rolling period.
How the comparison period works
The comparison is always the period immediately before yours, of the same length. A 30-day period is compared with the 30 days before it; 1 to 31 July is compared with 31 May to 30 June. You do not choose it, and it is always stated on the context strip as vs a date range, so the basis of every delta on the page is visible rather than assumed.
The chips beside each figure show the change against that window. For Participation rate the change is shown in percentage points, labelled pp, because the figure is itself a percentage. Everything else is shown as a percentage change.
Arrows show direction only, with no colour. A rise in New assigned learnings means administrators sent out more learning, which is neither good nor bad on its own, so the dashboard does not imply a verdict.
What happens when your range includes today
Today is not over, so a period that includes it is incomplete. The dashboard handles this in three visible ways:
- The comparison covers the same number of elapsed days in each period, so a half-finished month is compared with the first half of the previous month rather than the whole of it.
- The final part of each chart is hatched, and the legend gains a Today (in progress) entry.
- The context strip states the comparison window so you can see exactly what the deltas mean.
Without this, a period that is only part-way through would always look like a sharp decline. If you want clean, settled figures, choose a custom range that ends yesterday.
Sharing a view
The range you pick is stored in the page address, so copying the URL from your browser shares the view, and refreshing the page keeps your place, including the two dates in the Custom pickers.
One thing to know before you send a link. A preset stays relative: send someone a 7D link and they see their own last seven days, not the seven days you were looking at, so the same link keeps making sense next week. A Custom range is the opposite, and travels with its exact dates. So if you need someone to see precisely the figures you are seeing, send a Custom range.
Anyone you send it to still needs permission to open the dashboard, and will see it scoped to their own access.
Things to keep in mind
- Day boundaries follow your organisation's configured time zone, which is named on the context strip, so everyone in your organisation sees the same figures for the same range.
- History goes back three years. Ask for an earlier start date and it is pulled forward to the earliest available data, with Start date adjusted to the earliest available data shown on the context strip.
- If the period before yours falls outside that history, there is nothing to compare against: the chips read No prior period and no previous-period line is drawn. A range of up to 18 months always keeps its comparison.
- Charts group your range automatically: by day up to 31 days, by week up to 120 days, and by month beyond that.
- The Learning funnel and Top learning content cards use your range to decide which learning is in scope, then show where it stands today, so their status split is current rather than historical.
FAQs
Can I change the comparison period on its own?
No. It is always the equal-length period immediately before the one you choose, which keeps every comparison on the page consistent and comparable.
Why did my chart change from daily to weekly points?
The grouping follows the length of your range: daily up to 31 days, weekly up to 120 days, monthly beyond that. It keeps a long range readable.
Why can I not go back further than three years?
Three years is the sign-in history SuperPath retains. The dashboard pulls your start date forward rather than showing empty months, and tells you on the context strip when it has done so.
Does the range affect the Reports area too?
No. This control applies to the Engagement Dashboard only. Reports have their own date filters.
Who can do this
Anyone who can open the Engagement Dashboard can change its date range: Owners and Admins on the Company view, and anyone with at least one direct report on the Team view. There is no separate permission for the control itself.
